The Erasmus+ project “Sector Skill Aliance”: Skillsea celebrated the closure of this ambitious four and a half year project on 31st of May in Brussels with a closing conference where not only the whole consortium but also representatives of important stakeholders or entities of relevance in the international maritime sector were invited.
The programme of this closing conference is a combination of the presentation of results by the project partners, as well as a forum discussion between representatives of the main stakeholders involved in this Skillsea project.
At the end of the conference, the main trends and lines of development in maritime transport were presented, as well as the result of the needs arising in the new technological trends for professionals in the marine sector, both in terms of energy and navigation.
The University of Cadiz has participated in this project through the School of Marine, Nautical and Radioelectronic Engineering and the Vice-rectorate for Internationalisation, with Dr. Vanesa Durán Grados as the main researcher and Mariló Gómez Domínguez as the head of International Affairs. In addition, researchers from the degree courses in Nautical and Maritime Transport such as Nieves Endrina, Jorge Walliser and Emilio Rodríguez participated, while from the Degree in Marine the participants were Yolanda Amado, Rubén Rodríguez and Emilio Pájaro. Dorota Maciascek, a scholarship holder, also made a great contribution to the project.
One of the main results of the collaboration of this huge consortium (26 partners) from 15 different countries (including Spain, Denmark, UK, France, Finland, Greece, Sweden, Norway, Romania, Italy and Scandinavia) has been the creation of the international network “Maritime education and Training Netwok (MET NET)” to which the UCA has joined, thus expanding the possibilities of collaboration between the partners of this European consortium beyond the life of the project.
This brings to a close a long project of more than 4 years of active life, opening a great stage with the creation of a new international network with important international partners belonging to the original Skillsea project.
