On 11 and 12 July, training sessions took place within the framework of the Capacity Building MEP&M (Development of Regional Joint Master Programme in Maritime Environmental Protection and Management) project. Specifically related to the activity Know-how to transfer to teaching staff related to the environmental management (WP3.4.4) which took place at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor of the University of Montenegro, during which professors from the Universities of Cadiz and Côte d’azur gave several presentations.
On 11 July, the participating team from the UCA gave the following presentations. Firstly, in the field of the Blue Bioeconomy, Dr. Remedios Cabrera Castro gave a presentation on Fisheries and Dr. Manuel Alejandro Merlo Torres, on Aquaculture and blue biotechnology. Later on, Dr. Rosa Molina Gil presented the paper “Coastal Risk and vulnerability: Basics and strategies for protection and monitoring.
Dr. Christophe Mocquet, from the University of the Côte d’Azur, gave a lecture on “The ecosystem services: concepts and applications”.
On 12 July, Dr. Alfredo Fernández Enríquez gave the paper “GIS applied to coastal and maritime environmental protection and management” and Dr. Christophe Mocquet presented the paper “Environmental economics – how to combine environment and economy?
These two sessions gave rise to debates and discussions which brought the planned briefings to a close.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Partner Management Board was held to discuss project management issues such as tutorials and didactic programmes (DEV 2.1), accreditation of the Master’s programme curriculum (DEV 2.4), equipment procurement (DEV 3.1), the project quality and control plan (DEV 4.2), as well as proposed dates for training activities and further meetings.
These presentations were attended by professors and staff from the University of Montenegro, the Institute of Marine Biology in Kotor, the Agency for Nature and Environmental Protection and the NGO Eco Centre DOLPHIN. As well as from the Albanian universities of Aleksander Moisiu of Durres, Ismail Qemali Vlore and the Albanian General Maritime Directorate.
