SEA-EU DOC project participates in the annual meeting of the Council for Doctoral Education of the European University Association in Helsinki

Professor Irene Laiz, coordinator of the SEA-EU DOC project at the University of Cadiz, attended the annual meeting of the European Council for Doctoral Education of the European University Association (EUA-CDE). The meeting, jointly organised by two Finnish universities (Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology and University of Helsinki), took place from 14 to 16 June 2023 in Lahti (Finland), with the theme “Engaged research: the role of communication in doctoral education”.

The programme of the meeting included the parallel session “Interacting with employers, graduates and doctoral students to expand employment opportunities for PhDs”, which was devoted exclusively to the SEA-EU DOC project. The main results of the project were presented in four talks that generated a wide-ranging debate among the attendees. Among others, the role of universities in improving the employability of their graduates was highlighted, with a commitment to quality communication with doctoral students, PhDs and the non-academic sector, with the aim of improving doctoral training and aligning it with the needs of the productive sector.
