The University of Cádiz hosted a meeting of the 3L4MOHS project, Lifelong Learning for Mongolia; Occupational Health & Safetyg for Mongolia; Occupational Health & Safety 3 November 2025
This is a capacity-building project under the + programme. The consortium includes four higher education institutions in Mongolia, two universities and two colleges. The universities in that country are the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) and the National University of Mongolia (NUM), both based in the national capital of Ulaanbaatar. The other higher education institutions are the Polytechnical College of Khenti Province and Umnugovi Province Polytechnic College, which cover remote areas of the vast country. The European partner universities are the University of Patras in Greece, the project coordinator, the Università degli Studi di Palermo and the University of Cádiz.
The University of Cádiz’s participation in this project is led by the MOVE-IT CTS1038 group (Empowering Health by Physical Activity, Exercise and Nutrition), composed of professors Ana Carbonell Baeza and Vanesa España Romero, as well as David Jiménez Pavón, who is responsible for the project at the UCA and for the aforementioned group.
The aim of this project is to establish lifelong learning centres (LLCs) in four higher education institutions in Mongolia and to digitise occupational health and safety (OHS) curricula, which will be tested through higher education institutions. Work will be carried out on the joint design of education and the digitisation of educational resources through gamification and new teaching methods with the aim of modernising teaching.
The aim of this project meeting was to bring the consortium together to analyse the state of development and achievement of the main objectives of the project, the different tasks carried out in the work packages and to clarify the tasks still to be completed in the remaining year of the project, as well as the roles of the different consortium partners in these tasks.
The participation in the project of the UCA professors, belonging to the Department of Physical, Plastic and Musical Education of the Faculty of Education, is currently focused on developing part of the course on occupational health and safety. Specifically, content related to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, especially through increased physical activity and fitness, in order to improve physical and mental health in the workplace and in the company. Actions aimed at staff at Mongolian universities and higher education institutions on new educational technologies and on how to subsequently teach Mongolian workers the new online course that is being designed and the use of digital resources. The participating UCA teaching staff are experts in the field of healthy lifestyles and their previous experience in numerous regional, national and European research projects carried out within the MOVE-IT group will be transferred to both the academic field and occupational health and safety training in the Mongolian workplace and business sector, once the training of workers in that country has been completed.
It is worth noting that a meeting was held with officials from the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalisation, led by the Director General for Mobility, Laura Cubillana Aguilera, with the aim of exploring ways to strengthen relations between the UCA and Mongolian universities, as well as signing collaboration agreements.
