Augmented Reality in Language Teaching: Best Practices and Tools for Getting Started 31 January 2026
The Erasmus+ project ARIDLL (Augmented Reality Instructional Design for Language Learning) recently participated in the 2026 DAAD Ortslektoren Regionaltreffen, hosted by the University of Lisbon from 28 to 31 January 2026.
During the event, Anke Berns, representing the University of Cádiz ARIDLL team, delivered the workshop “Augmented Reality in Language Teaching: Best Practices and Tools for Getting Started.” The session introduced participants to the pedagogical potential of Augmented Reality (AR) for teaching German and English as Foreign Languages, demonstrating how AR can enhance language learning through immersive, multisensory activities both inside and outside the classroom.
Participants explored several AR applications developed within the ARIDLL project, testing them on their own mobile devices and discussing their possible implementation in different educational contexts. The workshop aimed to provide practical and transferable ideas for learner-centred, technology-enhanced language teaching, while also encouraging new perspectives on the use of AR technologies in education.
ARIDLL (2022-1-NO01-KA220-HED-000088034) is an Erasmus+ project that ran from September 2023 to September 2025, promoting digital innovation in language education and supporting teachers in the use of AR technologies.
